The Oklahoma Mesonet and the Cooperative Institute for Severe and High-Impact Weather Research and Operations (CIWRO) at the University of Oklahoma are jointly hosting a 1-day, in-person, professional development workshop for Oklahoma 3rd-6th grade public school teachers. The workshop will focus on the atmospheric ingredients that can spur tornadoes, plot weather data on maps and graphs, and hands-on activities.

Teachers will leave with a STEM weather kit, a $100 substitute stipend paid to your school, and a catered lunch.

Tobacco Use on Campus: The OU Board of Regents has established a campus Tobacco-Free policy consistent with state Executive Orders 2012-01 and 2013-43. All properties and facilities of the University of Oklahoma, regardless of campus or location, are free of tobacco, electronic cigarettes, and vaping devices.

Clear Bag Policy: In general, the NWC has a Clear Bag Policy for visitors. Groups participating in a sponsored workshop are allowed bags for carrying laptops. Please limit items you bring inside. Bags will need to remain inside the workshop room and not carried around the facility.

Construction: Be aware there is major construction occurring just south of Norman. This can cause a 3-4 mile traffic jam in the area. You may want to use the following alternate route if you are traveling from the north side of Norman on I-35. Use the Tecumseh Rd. exit, travel east until 12th St. NE / Sooner Rd, then south to Hwy 9 West (left turn to onramp), continue west on Hwy 9 to Jenkins Ave, right on Jenkins, take first right on David L. Boren Blvd. Use the second driveway.

Parking: Using the second driveway on the right, off of David L. Boren Blvd., pull forward towards the building. Visitor Parking is on either side of the aisle. All other rows require an OU parking permit
