Data Descriptions

Most weather observations from the Oklahoma Mesonet are available as far back as January 1, 1994. Accessible file types include:

Current Observations CSV

The current observations CSV file is a comma separated list of the most recent observations for each Mesonet station.  Missing data, whether due to data or communications problems, are denoted by consecutive commas.

Daily Summaries

Daily summary data provide access to comma-delimited (CSV) files of daily maxima, minima, averages, and other useful quantities based on data from the Oklahoma Mesonet. These data are used to produce Mesonet Climatological Data (MCD) products. In addition to the variables included on the MCDs, numerous others are available. The comma-delimited format allows for easy importation into spreadsheets.

Long-Term Averages

The Mesonet long-term averages utilize 15 years of daily data (e.g. daily average, daily maximum/minimum, or daily total) for every current and past Oklahoma Mesonet station. For a station's data to be used in one of the maps, at least 90% of the data must be valid during the respective period. Data from moved locations (e.g. "Norman - retired 2002" and "Norman") are not combined into a single station record.

MDF/MTS Files

Mesonet MDF and MTS files are space delimited files used to display data in WeatherScope.  MDF files display data for all stations for a given time, while MTS files display data for 1 station for a given UTC day. This is the standard file format used for Mesonet data.

Monthly Summaries

Monthly summaries are available as an HTML formatted page or as a downloadable PDF.  Station location information is provided on the top of the report while monthly averages and extremes are included at the bottom.  Data reflect measurements taken from midnight to midnight Central Standard Time (CST).
